1. Do I have to label every door?

Every locked door should have a sign for Safety reasons.  According to ADA every room needs to be identified for the public and or staff.

2. Do I have to have Rules signs for my Fitness Center and Business Center?

Although it may not be mandated by government regulations, it does help in educating the guest and protect you as the owner from liability.

3. Can I replace my signs with the same size sign?

If your signs were originally well designed for the text height and reading distance you can. Standard sizes are always a better value.

4. Why can’t I have the letter height as big as I want?

ADA mandates certain letter heights that have been researched by industry professionals for use by the public. Use our reading distance chart for graphic standards

5. Can I put the no smoking symbol and the wheelchair symbol on my room number?

As the no smoking laws are becoming widely used it is becoming more common to not clutter the design of your sign with additional graphics but use a small designed symbol at the key card lock.

6. Can I put the room number sign back on the door?

ADA requires all room signs to be placed on the wall latch side of the door.  If the door has automatic door closures and opens inward it may be placed on the door at the appropriate height

7. How are the signs installed?

The signs are provided with a high bond double sided tape on the back. 100% rubberized silicone is strongly suggested to complete the adhesion to the wall surface.

8. Do all my front desk signs have to be in gold?  

Your front desk signs should correlate to the design of the interior space. Brand Standards have added additional finishes for the new look.

9. Can we have our logo on the room number sign?  

This is an old tradition in which the new designs are departing.

10. I have exterior corridors, will the signs last outside?

Always specify that the signs are for exterior use. Our primary signs will withstand the exterior elements.

11. What signs have to have Braille and raised text?

ADA requires all permanent room identifying signs to have braille.

12. Will changing the color of the sign change the price of it?

As long as standard colors are used there is no price change.

13. Can I make the size of the sign larger than the “standard” size?  

I have damage on the walls I need to hide… This will then become a custom sign package; please call customer service for a price quote.

14. Are Handicap Accessible rooms the only ones that need ADA compliant signs?  

All permanent rooms must have ADA compliant signage.

15. Do I need to replace all of my signage to meet the current ADA regulations? 

March 15, 2012 marks the compliance date for all new construction, alterations, program accessibility and barrier removal.
